Proposed Development 

Attainable Homes is purchasing a vacant parcel of land (pictured) next to the Genesis Centre from The City of Calgary. Our proposed development would include multi-family housing for purchasers through our program as well as market buyers.

Development Approval Process:


On June 12th, Calgary City Council gave first reading, the first of three required approvals, to proceed with the proposed land use change for the site to allow for the Attainable Homes development.  Council directed City Administration to undertake additional public consultation and this was done through two public information sessions held at The Genesis Centre on August 15th and 17th as well as online between August 10th and 20th. The item returned to Council on Tuesday, September 12th and passed on second and third readings. Now that we have received land use approval, we will move forward with preparing a development permit application. We are about to host a third public open house on Wednesday, November 29th (details above).

 What will it look like?

We have only just completed the rezoning stage of the process and thus have no architectural drawings of the proposed development. We do know that the style of the development will be in keeping with the professional quality with which Attainable Homes is known. The site would comprise mainly townhomes and possibly four-storey apartment-style condominium buildings.


Who will live here?

We exist to provide homeownership affordability options to moderate-income Calgarians. These homes will be made available to our hard-working clients who dream of homeownership but struggle to save for a down payment. We provide a gifted down payment in the form of an investment partnership to households with a gross income less than $90,000.



The builder partner we work with will also have the opportunity to offer apartment-style condominiums to full-market purchasers.  


Community Engagement 

To date, we have introduced ourselves to the community associations of Martindale, Saddle Ridge and Taradale and continued to provide updates as we progress through the re-zoning application process. As well, we have had ongoing meetings with the North East Centre of Community Society (Genesis Centre Governance Board) to provide updates and hear feedback. A summary of our engagement activities is available in this report. 

Assuming the rezoning application is approved, we look forward to furthering our community engagement including focus groups to help inform us of the housing needs unique to the variety of cultures that live in the area. Being a good neighbour is important to us and we will do our best to ensure the community has a chance to provide feedback once we have a proposed design.
