Qualifications
In order to qualify for the Attainable Home Ownership Program you must meet the following criteria:
Be working in Calgary:
Qualified home-buyers must be currently employed or have a firm offer of employment in Calgary and be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
Income and Assets:
- The combined annual household income must be below 120 per cent of Calgary's area median income (currently at approximately $80,000 or less)*.
- Homebuyers must provide a mortgage pre-approval for the cost of an Attainable Home;
- Personal assets must not exceed $100,000 excluding down payment, primary vehicle, RRSPs, RESPs or pension plans.

Complete a home owner education program:
Qualified home buyers must have completed an AHCC-approved home owner education program to assist people in being successful home owners.
Occupancy:
Occupancy of the home once acquired must be the permanent sole residence of the buyer. The applicant/s must be the person/s that will be on title.
Family Composition:
AHOP may be accessed by an individual or family household and it is expected that the homebuyer will select the type of suite most appropriate for their needs.
Am I Eligible?
- Your annual household income is $80,000 or less
- You are working in Calgary or have a firm offer of employment
- You can qualify for a mortgage and provide a deposit of $2,000
- You are willing to participate in a home education program
- Your personal assets total less than $100,000 (Excluding primary vehicle, RESP's, RRSP's, deposit, pension)
- Your Attainable Home will be your permanent sole residence
- You are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
